BIM (Building Information Modeling) or 4-D is a tool being rapidly accepted in design and engineering. The general concept is to add intelligence and information to the objects in a 3-D model. Manufacturer's specifications can be used to create information rich models. Upon completion, reports can be created for quantity estimates and bill of materials.
